This is where I store notes on various points of knowledge. I will add tidbits of knowledge from time to time.

Data & Information

This is quick, easy and free information I've collected

  • There were over 2 million heavy and tractor-trailer drivers in the country in 2019.
  • Truck driving was named the seventh most fatal job in the country in 2019, with over 1,000 fatal work injuries that year. This number comprises nearly 20% of all deaths resulting from workplace incidents. In 38% of cases, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
  • A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is regulated by the Federal Government and licensed drivers are held to a higher standard than other drivers on the road. The penalties and consequences are even more severe.
  • According to recent demographics reports, the average age of a truck or bus driver in the U.S. is between 46 and 55 years old.
  • Anecdotal and empirical evidence strongly suggests that many trucking companies are actually more willing to hire, and actively seek, older drivers, due to their expected additional life experience, work ethic, and wisdom/maturity.

These are my short interpretations.

These are the anecdotal observations I've learned along the way.
