Good suggestions, Mike. I’ve done quite a bit of public speaking/performing over the years. Alas, none of the suggestions above alleviated my pounding heart, flushed face, shaking, and nerves. I happened to mention this to the physician I worked with, and he recommended a beta blocker…Propanolol. I would suggest if all other conservative measures fail, consult your physician regarding this option, as the difference was truly like night and day. As always, medication should always be a last resort, and the risks/benefits need to be taken into consideration.
