Article writing is more than just putting your thoughts on the paper (or Microsoft word these days). The process of writing article starts the moment you make a decision to write. In this article, I am going to discuss few key points, that writers often do not use to their full power. I’ll be not teaching how to write an article as this is not the point of this article. So let’s get to our first point.

The environment -

Like any other skills, your environment plays a crucial role in helping/killing your writing skills. If you are writing in loud environment, chances are you never finish your article. I personally like to set up my PC table with things that influences my mind (daily goals, items). I also like to write after 10 pm as there’s quite less distraction at that point.

While building this environment, I always use what I call is work clothes. They can be your dress or just a part of the dress (a writer friend always used his cap to act as writing dress). To me, it’s pen and paper even if I am going to type it out on the keyboard. Think about your dress or work clothes that you’ll like to use as a writing clothes.

When you set your environment to succeed, you’ll be successful.

Setting goals -

If you are setting goals, then you’ll be able to write fast, better and be focused on the job. For example Dan Kennedy tells us, that he writes 1 hour daily early in the morning. That’s how he have so many books out there. I took his advice and do all my writing before going to sleep. 4 articles per day is my minimum, anything above is plus for me.

So decide your goals now to help you succeed.

Keep learning about your market

One habit that I’ve build is to learn something new everyday or read something new everyday. It doesn’t matter if it’s a book, article or something else. When you keep yourself updated on your market, you’ll become knowledgeable. This will get your creative juices flowing and allow you to write whenever you want.

Learning will help you tackle different angles, different view points and you’d spend less time doing research before you write.

I recommended you to think about all 3 points and start implementing in your daily routine.

If you have a website or a blog, then you need content. Learning how to write articles is going to go long way with getting your content problems solved. Of course you can always outsource content creation, but if you know how to write good articles, you can be secured in knowing that you only have high quality unique content.

In this article, I am going to share simple way to write good article as fast as possible. I’ve personally timed myself while writing. For a 300 word article, I can be finished in about 8 minutes, for 500 word, I am often done in 12 minutes. With this kind of speed, you can tackle quality and quantity matters.

First step in learning how to write articles is to write a good title. Writing a good title is an art in itself. As you are starting, you should start with “How to -” articles. They are not only easier to write but also takes less time to research.

Next you should try out different types of headlines. Notice which headlines gets more attention and then you’ll see a pattern emerging on your writing style. For example, I tend to write better story type or how to headlines. After headline, it all comes down to your body content.

The content in the body can be divided in multiple points or it can be used to describe one single point. It all depends on what you are writing. In the body, you have to start with a good introduction. Introduction will lead and give direction to your content.

Your body content will be in steps or points if it’s a “how to” article. I personally like to include Steps to make it easy to read. When you are using steps, you’ll see yourself write automatically. That’s one of the reason why “How to” articles are easier to write.

Next is conclusion. Conclusion is pretty much in same format as introduction. You have to conclude or sum-up your article in a paragraph or two.

In any article, you have to understand, the quality of content matters a lot. You cannot just string together few words into paragraph and call it an article. Think about your title headline, your body content before you start writing.
